I grew up on the Galapagos Islands, where I developed a strong connection with the natural world surrounding me and where I learned the importance of conserving and protecting unique ecosystems.
There is no doubt human impact is makings its presence felt in what is already an urgent battle against the five most significant threats to our natural world: Changes in land and sea use, direct exploitation of natural resources, the climate crisis, pollution, and invasive species. All of which are affecting my home islands directly or indirectly. Hence, I have devoted myself to speaking out loud about these uncomfortable realities and telling the stories of scientists, nature advocates, and NGOs fighting against the current to reach sustainability.
